Follow the money!
How many of you use a service outside of your business – hairdresser, veterinarian, local restaurant, doctor, lawyer, exterminator, lawn service?
How many of you have asked any one of these businesses’ owners for a referral for your business?
The fact is you spend money with these people. Sometimes LOTS of money over time – just add up all that wasted cash on hair styling alone!
Seriously though, do a little balance checking and see what that $25 every other week or $200 a month adds up to in the time you used these services. You will be surprised when you do the math – the fact is you could be one of the primary sponsors of that particular business!.
These people owe you something for your patronage. And its time for you to call in that debt.
Give one of them a call this week or drop by and ask them if you can sit down for coffee or lunch. Have a chat with them and ask them if they can help you in your business, reminding them that you have been a loyal and paying customer for so long.
A referral, a testimonial, an introduction to one of their other customers – whatever has a real value to you and your business and that costs them NOTHING except the time and effort to perform you that service.
To quote Don Corleone: “Some day, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me.” That day HAS come.
